For the Seattle Monorail Project’s Green Line, PLACE was entrusted with creating a system-wide Bicycle Access Plan. Following extensive demand analysis, we developed, organized and led community meetings and focus groups aimed at ensuring that all parties were heard and their feedback integrated into the final design. A survey on cycling and transit was written, disseminated and reported back to the community as part of this work. This research formed the basis of our recommendations for access routes, bike storage, and policy throughout the Seattle Monorail system.
Following this initial work, PLACE staff served as group leaders in broad access and design-related public workshops hosted by the Seattle Monorail Project; and we created a storefront design center where SMP teams worked together in an environment open and accessible to the public.
